Tuan,

Your assignment 3 is looking great thus far. I can see the mesh in your model becoming an acutal lamp shade for a table piece, or possibly a wall sconce, lighting the area above and below the fixture.

In the top view, a background color other than white may help give the model a more appropriate 'mood.' Excellent model and I can't wait to see the final one for Tuesday.

I'm glad you have two views of this object, one from each side. The bottom image makes it appear that the mesh plane morphs into a solid plane. It's actually quite beautiful, but I couldn't figure out how you did it. Then I studied the other picture and realized it's a bit of an optical illusion--in a good way!

I agree with Jeff, that chancging the vertical background color from white to something else would also help ground the object in a better setting. It would also enable you to see what kind of shadows can be cast on a vertical surface, which could be interesting.
