TUAN! neat project. You always have a good judgment of spatial arrangement, and it shows in this shadow study. killer spiral that is being intersected with crazy red things. I also appreciate the layout with the two images being connected with the diagonal of the grey. nice job

As I mentioned in class, I really like the depth of the shadows in the large image. The layers of shadows as cast by glass are almost more interesting than the actual model they are cast by. We can read and comprehend the model quite well as it is but when we move to the shadows we have something to sort through and try to figure out. It is not a tedious task, however. Instead, it is quite wonderful. Good job.

Tuan,

Your first assignment shows a strong design vocabulary and a good sense of compopsition. I like the way that you differentiate between the different players consistently with color and form. The regular spacin gof the red tubes and the spiral gives a strong rhythmic order to the piece. Visually the construction has a logic because the vertical columns and walls appear to support it structurally.

You composed a page quite powerfully with the left images working together to make a dynamic diagonal like a mountain against the quiet datum of the smaller line of images on the right. Using the gray text and the squares of color gives a nice unity between the text and the images. If the small titles of the right images were all in the lower right corner, they would lie quieter in the background (even if you had to change the color to a lighter or darker gray). Also watch the alignment of the blocks of text and stripes: I might have made the paragraph a little taller and narrower so it did not look like it should line up on the right. The bottom stripe should be right aligned with the picture above. Your description and titles are nicely written.
** Please correct your spelling error "SCULPTURE" **.

One downside of the strong colors is that they draw our eyes away from the shadows. The shadows in the left two images have higher contrast. This helps them compete well with the colors and create an important part of the composition.

Overall: Great effort, a really a top notch beautiful job.

Forgot to say that you might be able to get better colored shadows if the light goes through only one surface rather than two: i.e. an open box.
